| AJACK4x90 "SS-Dienstglas" は、軍用AJACK4x90の生産に先立って、武装親衛隊に納められたもので、このシリーズの外見は刻印を除いて民間用4x90とほぼ同一である。照準鏡のシリアルナンバーは、37,000〜41,000の間で見られ、これ以降は民間用4x90がほとんど見られなくなることから、これらの製造時期は戦争の初期、民間への照準鏡販売が停止された時期に一致すると思われる。 これらの照準鏡は、初期のマウントである、基部のレールが短いShort Side Rail (SSR)マウントと共に、Gewehr98をKarabiner98k型に改造したもの等、親衛隊独自に調達された小銃との組合せで多く用いられた。 |
| AJACK4x90 'SS-Dienstglas' was made especially for the Waffen-SS prior
to the production of the military AJACKs made for the Wehrmacht. They are
almost identical to commercial AJACKs except for their distinctive markings
on the elevation housing (i.e. 'SS-Dienstglas' with the Death's Head).
The scope serial numbers are from 37,000 to 41,000 range. Since commercial
AJACKs are seldom seen after this serial range, it is possible that these
were made early in the war when the sale of commercial rifle scopes was
forbidden. SS-Dienstglas AJACKs were mostly used on reworked Gewehr98 rifles, together with the Short Side Rail (SSR) mounting system. |

| Markings on the elevation housing. The marking 'Dienstglas' (Service
Glass) is usually seen on binoculars (ex. 6x30, 7x50), and it indicates
that the model was accepted for military use. 'SS-Dienstglas' is the only
known example of this word marked on commercial rifle scopes utilized for
military. The number 8539 on the main tube is the rifle serial number, which is also marked on the left side of the mount. |

AJACKs usually have commercial type markings, but ones with military type
