本項では第三のDIALYTAN、コードbek製のものについて述べる。 本品は「DIALYTAN 4x」と刻印されているが、外見的にbmj設計のものとはかなり異なり、共通点は鏡筒径だけで全くの別設計と考えられる。 コードbekは、bmjと同じHensoldtであるが、Hensoldt Werk für Optik und Mechanikを社名とし、所在地はHessen州Lahn-Dill郡内、Wetzlarから Dill川に沿って北西に20kmほど離れたHerbornとされている。このことから、Hensoldt Wetzlarに対して、Hensoldt Herbornと呼称されている。 両社の関係を明確に説明した資料を確認できていないが、Hensoldt Herbornの所有者（Inh. : Inhaber）Dr. Hans Hensoldtは、Hensoldt Wetlarの 創設者Moritz Carl Hensoldtの孫息子であり、Hans自身もHensoldt Wetzlarの役員であったとの情報がある。 Hensoldt Herbornが製造した照準眼鏡は、この軍用DIALYTAN 4x以外にはなく、戦前、戦後ともに民間用の照準眼鏡の製造は確認できない。また、 照準眼鏡以外の生産品では、軍用双眼鏡Dienstglas 6x30だけが存在し、戦後の製品はやはり確認できない。これらのことからHensoldt Herbornの 創設にはかなり特殊な経緯があることが想像されるが、それは明らかになっていない。 In this section, we shall discuss the third DIALYTAN, manufactured by code bek. The scope is engraved with“DIALYTAN 4x”, but visually it differs considerably from the bmj design. The only common feature appears to be the diameter of the scope tube; it is considered to be an entirely unique design. Code bek refers to the same Hensoldt as bmj, but the company name is “Hensoldt Werk für Optik und Mechanik”, and its location is stated as Herborn, situated approximately 20 km northwest of Wetzlar along the Dill river within the Lahn-Dill district of the state of Hessen. Consequently, the company is referred to as Hensoldt Herborn in correspondence with Hensoldt Wetzlar. I have not been able to confirm documentation clearly explaining the relationship between the two companies, but information indicates that Dr. Hans Hensoldt, the owner (Inh.: Inhaber) of Hensoldt Herborn, is the grandson of Moritz Carl Hensoldt, founder of Hensoldt Wetzlar, and that Hans himself was also a director of Hensoldt Wetzlar. The only scopes manufactured by Hensoldt Herborn were these military DIALYTAN 4x models; no production of civilian scopes has been confirmed either before or after the war. Furthermore, among products other than scopes, only the military binoculars Dienstglas 6x30 seem to exist, and post-war products remain unverified. From these facts, it may be surmised that the establishment of Hensoldt Herborn involved rather unusual circumstances, though these remain unclear. 先に述べたとおりbek製DIALYTAN 4xはbmjと同じ名称でありながら全くの別設計であるが、その一方でシリアルナンバーにおいてbmj製と奇妙な符合がある。 bek製のシリアルナンバーは77000番代から79000番代までのものが確認できる。マウントとの関係をみると、シリアルナンバー77300番代までは 高型タレットマウントが確認できるが、以降はほぼすべて長レール型マウントとなっている。 このシリアルナンバーについては、bmj製と連番になっているという説がある。つまり、生産数等の管理としてシリアルナンバーが使用されていたことを 前提に、あらかじめの割り当てがあったという考えである。あくまで仮定の数値であるが、例えばbek製を77001から80000までの生産数3000と定め、77000までと80001からはbmj製とするなどである。 検証を行うには十分なデータを持ち合わせていないが、bmj製のデータとの突合せを行うと、信憑性はかなり高いと考える。このことからも、Wetzlarと Herbornの関係の特殊性が窺えるが、その詳細は現時点では謎のままである。 As previously stated, the bek DIALYTAN 4x shares the same name as the bmj model yet features an entirely different design. However, its serial numbers exhibit a peculiar correspondence with those of the bmj version. Serial numbers for bek can be confirmed from the 77000 to the 79000 range. Regarding the mounts, High turret mounts can be confirmed up to around serial number 77300, but thereafter almost all are Long side rail mounts. There is a theory that this serial number is part of a sequential numbering system with the serial numbers of bmj scopes. It is assumed that serial numbers were used for production quantity management, and that prior allocation had taken place. Although these are hypothetical figures, for example, production of the bek could be set at 3,000 units from 77001 to 80000, with bmj covering the ranges up to 77000 and from 80001 onwards. I do not possess sufficient data to conduct verification, but cross-referencing with bmj data suggests a high degree of credibility. From this, too, the peculiar relationship between Wetzlar and Herborn can be discerned, though the details remain a mystery at present. |
